MP Raj mobbed at event in his constituency, blames 'anarchist' AAP

New Delhi: BJP MP Udit Raj on Tuesday faced the heat from a group of irate villagers at the commissioning of the Bawana Water Treatment Plant, for which he later blamed "anarchist" AAP, saying it had "politicised" a government event.

The North-West Delhi MP, who was supposed to preside over the event but arrived for it an hour late, also accused AAP of insulting him by going ahead with the event in his absence and putting his name below that of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on the inauguration stone.

"Chief Minister should explain to his party supporters the difference between a government and a political event. Since they have politicised the event, why should I take part in it. They are running an anarchist government," he said.

Asked for his reason for reaching late, he said, "I was attending a meeting of party MPs and left for the venue soon after it ended. They should have waited for me.

"I should have been welcomed like a guest. Guests are not insulted like this. My name is also inscribed in small fonts below Kejriwal and others' names. It should have been at the top," the MP said.

The plant and an underground reservoir was commissioned by Kejriwal at an event which was also attended by his deputy Manish Sisodia, Delhi Jal Board CEO Vijay Kumar and Bawana and Narela MLAs, respectively, Ved Prakash and Sharad Kumar.

When Raj reached the venue after Kejriwal and Sisodia had left, the villagers mobbed him and asked him why he had not visit their croplands which were affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorm.

"People are accusing me of not visiting their damaged farmlands. But I want to ask them whether Kejriwal has visited their fields? They do not know how to maintain decorum," he said.
