New Delhi: After years of court battle, Rohit Shekhar was on Tuesday declared as the natural son of Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari by the Delhi High Court.

The court also injuncted Tiwari to not deny the fact in public that Shekhar is his natural born son.

While Shekhar was reportedly calm after the verdict, his mother broke into tears.

The court took cognizance of the news reports after Tiwari called Shekhar and his mother Ujjwala to his residence and accepted him as his son last month.
The court battle began in 2008 after Shekhar approached the court, claiming that he is the biological son of the Congress leader.

ND Tiwari had denied the claims at that time and said that the charges were a part of political conspiracy hatched against him by his opponents.
The DNA sample of the Congress leader was then taken on the directions of the court which proved that he was biologically linked to Tiwari.

Tiwari had earlier reportedly rejected the DNA test report against him saying "mere placing on record the certified copy of the DNA test report is not enough. Even the test was not conducted according to requisite requirements of conducting the same. I, therefore, deny the same."
