New Delhi: A research scholar of Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), who was under police custody for allegedly raping his 13-year-old sister-in-law, on Sunday created a ruckus and injured himself in the lock up.

The 25-year-old accused was arrested yesterday after a case was registered against him at Vasant Vihar police station.
"He rubbed his private part against the lock up wall. He made huge hue and cry, shouting and breaking down several times following which he was taken to a hospital," said a senior police official.

He was discharged from the hospital after treatment, police said.

Police said that they have been informed by doctors that this was the second time the victim got pregnant. She got pregnant a year ago as well but the pregnancy was aborted.

The minor girl had become pregnant after allegedly being raped repeatedly by her brother-in-law, a resident of South Delhi`s Vasant Vihar area, police said.
The victim was sent to Delhi to stay with the accused so that she could study, they said.
According to the victim`s statement, the accused had been raping her since the last couple of months. His wife, who is the elder sister of the victim, lives in Uttar Pradesh with her in-laws.

The incident came to light when the victim was taken to a hospital after she complained of stomachache. When the doctor`s found that the girl was two months pregnant, they informed the police.
