Cong MLA evicted from Goa Legislative Assembly for creating ruckus

Panaji: Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco was marshalled out from the Goa Legislative Assembly today for creating ruckus by ignoring Speaker's plea to observe restraint.

During zero hour, Lourenco raised the issue of parents, who are currently protesting at Azad Maidan here, on making English as the medium of instruction in elementary education in the state.

The government had asked the parents to vacate the ground.

"I would request chief minister to go and meet the parents," Lourenco said even as Speaker Rajendra Arlekar stopped him from speaking on the floor of the House.

However, he continued to speak loudly thus creating a ruckus despite the Speaker's request, following which the latter asked the marshals to evict the MLA from the House.

"Some people are continuously trying to disrupt the House and I will not tolerate it," Arlekar said while addressing the legislators.

This is for the second time during the ongoing monsoon session that Lourenco was escorted out of the House.

On the first day of the session, he, along with two MLAs Vijai Sardesai and Rohan Khaunte, was evicted for creating ruckus on the floor.
