Goan lifeguards save Russian tourist on Candolim beach

The lifeguards in Goa managed to rescue a 40-year-old Russian who had swept away with the strong undercurrents while swimming on Candolim beach, 15 kms away from here.

Panaji: The lifeguards in Goa managed to
rescue a 40-year-old Russian who had swept away with the
strong undercurrents while swimming on Candolim beach, 15 kms
away from here.

The incident occurred on yesterday when Sarji got
caught in the current while swimming.

Surf Live Save Goa (SLSG) guards, an agency which has
been contracted with the beach management in the state, went
to the rescue and pulled out the Russian tourist after
struggle for almost ten minutes.

"The tourist was struggling to get back to shore at
400 metres away from the shore. The lifeguards went to his
rescue with jet-ski boat and brought him to the shore," a SLSG
spokesman told.
