Man held for stealing Kokan Railway property

 A 55-year-old man from neighbouring Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly stealing the property of Konkan Railway, police said today.

Panaji: A 55-year-old man from neighbouring Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly stealing the property of Konkan Railway, police said today.

The accused identified as Madan Shankar Wadkar was arrested yesterday for stealing elastic rail clips (ERC), liners, joggle fish plates and C-clamps from a railway track in Konkan Railway jurisdiction, they said.

Meanwhile, two incidents of theft were reported in January this year.

"Both the incidents occurred in a period of fortnight in January, between Adavali and Vilavade stations in Ratnagiri region. A total of 210 ERC, 139 liners, two joggle fish plates and 2 C-Clamps were stolen," the Kokan Railway police said in a release here.

An offence was registered in this connection by the Lanja police in Ratnagiri district, who arrested Wadkar and recovered the stolen property.
