Rajkot: Describing BJP`s `Dhan-Sangrah` drive as "open-loot", Congress city unit has urged Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to stop it immediately or face state-wide protests.
"BJP`s "Dhan-Sangrah" (money collection through donation) drive is nothing but open loot started by Modi. It should be stopped as soon as possible as people of the state are being harassed to give money," Indranil Rajyaguru congress Rajkot unit president said here today.
"The ruling BJP in the state has launched the drive and set the target of collecting around Rs 500 crores. The money raised through the drive would not be used in any developmental project or even in elections. And there is ample chance of misuse of these funds," Rajyaguru feared.
However, BJP leader Vijay Rupani described the decision of launching the drive as "brave" and said the party is getting full support from the people.
Slamming Rupani`s statement, Rajyaguru said the entire government machinery has been deployed in the drive including corporators, RTO officers, mamlatdars and other state government employees, have been given targets.
Officers are being forced to donate fund in the drive, he said.
Rajyaguru said Rajkot Congress has decided to meet the Chief Minister and submit a memorandum when he visits the city on April 9 to attend a government function.
"If the drive is not stopped then Congress will have to launch agitations," Rajyaguru said.
