Court to decide on Gulberg survivors' plea seeking documents

The lawyer for the survivors of 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case on Thursday sought the relevant documents from the special investigation team's closure report on its investigation of Gujarat riots.

Ahmedabad: The lawyer for the survivors of 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case on Thursday sought the relevant documents from the special investigation team's closure report on its investigation of Gujarat riots.

The special court here, which is conducting the trial of the Gulberg case, said it would pass an order on this plea later.

SIT's closure report, on the complaint filed by Zakia Jafri, the wife of slain former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri, gives a clean chit to Narendra Modi (who was the Gujarat Chief Minister in 2002) and others with regard to the riots that had broken out after the Godhra train fire incident.

Ehsan Jafri was one of the 68 people who were killed at Gulberg Society in the city on February 28, 2002.

Advocate S M Vora, appearing for survivors and witnesses of Gulberg massacre, today sought the documents related to the incident from SIT's closure report.

SIT had submitted these documents, segregating them from the original report, before judge P B Desai earlier this week.
