Vadodara: Setting a unique example
of communal harmony, a Muslim trust has come forward to
protect cows by setting up a shelter for the bovine.

A mausoleum of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti located in
Ekalbara village near here has come forward to bring into
practice the initiative.

According to Kadir Pirzada Sajjadanashin, "the
mausoleum is the first in entire country which has taken a
lead in setting up a `Gau Shala` (cow shelter) for protection
of cows".

"For this purpose, we have founded a trust for setting
up the shelter on 1.75 acres of land in the village," he said,
adding the village panchayat has unanimously passed a
resolution donating the land to the trust.

The shrine holds the largest fair in Gujarat which is
attended by Hindus and Muslims alike every year.

On the occasion of the fair beginning from Thursday,
conference on the theme of `communal harmony` has been
organised at the venue which will be presided over by Governor
Kamla and Shaktisinh Gohil, the Leader of Opposition in the
legislative assembly.
