Zadafia appears before SIT, asks for more time

Zadafia asked for more time from SC appointed SIT, probing some of the riot cases, adding that the SIT was yet to respond to his request.

Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat Minister of State for Home during the post-Godhra riots Gordhan Zadafia, on Monday appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT), on being summoned.

Zadafia asked for more time from the Supreme Court appointed SIT, probing some of the riot cases, source close to the development said, adding that the SIT was yet to respond
to his request.
His request comes in wake of the municipal elections across the state in which his party Maha-Gujarat Janta Party (MJP) is contesting. Zadafia was already questioned four times earlier by the SIT in connections with the 2002 riots over the last one year.

After parting ways with the BJP before the 2007 state assembly elections, Zadafia had formed his own party called Maha-Gujarat Janta Party. His name figures in the complaint filed by Zakia Jaffery, wife of slain former Congress MP Eshan Jaffery who was among the 69 killed in the Gulburg society riot case of post-Godhra riots.
