Ambala: Mahila Congress activists on Tuesday held a protest against over various issues, including the increase in prices of petrol and diesel, and the plight of farmers.

They held a demonstration on Court road at Ambala city and raised slogans against the Centre and state governments.

Mahila Congress leader Suman Mehra, while addressing the party workers, said prices of daily commodities has gone up.

"The budget of common man has been badly affected during the last one year. The BJP government had promised during elections that the prices of daily needs would be reduced but it failed to fulfil its commitment," she said.

The increase in fuel prices by the Centre and power tariff by the Haryana government would break the backbone of the common man.

"The plight of farmers was poor ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre and in Haryana," she said, adding, law and order situation in the state has deteriorated under the present regime.

Later, the Mahila Congress workers burnt the effigy of the Narendra Modi government.
