Parma, Italy: Researchers have warned that two neonicotinoid pesticides can affect human health and harm the brain development of unborn babies.

Experts at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) found that the two chemicals - acetamiprid and imidacloprid - may adversely affect developing brain functions such as memory and learning in humans.

The European Food Safety Authority proposed that exposure to humans be limited to below current recommendations.

The EU body also added that data collected so far has limitations and proposes further research be carried out.
