Shimla: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday expressed serious concern over politicisation of Central University to be set up in the state and said that the government wanted to open it at a place that would be suitable for all.
Presiding over the annual prize distribution function of Government Senior Secondary School, Janjheli in Mandi district, Chief Minister said that there should be no politics over health and education institutes and the opposition by few people regarding the place of Central University was unfortunate and uncalled for.
He said that the State has strongly raised the issue of handing over ESI Hospital and Medical College, Ner Chowk (Mandi) with the Government of India to the State Government after completion as the Union Government has shown its reluctance to run this institute.
Virbhadra Singh said that education and health sectors have been accorded top priority by the State Government to provide best health care and educational facilities to the people and besides opening and upgrading more than 700 schools, 16 new degree colleges had also been opened during last two and a half years.
Professional institutes of repute such as AIIMS, IIT and IIM were also coming up in the state which would go a long way in facilitating the youth of the State, he added.
Chief Minister also announced that vocational courses in agriculture would be started in 300 schools of the State while horticulture course would ?be started in GSSS Janjheli.
