Pradesh would get two pairs of free uniforms annually upto
Under the `Atal School Uniform` scheme, students will get
one pair of uniform in April and another in October during
each academic session.
"It will go a long way in bringing about uniformity and
discipline amongst the students belonging to different
economic strata of the society", a government official said.
Rs 30 crore shall be spent on the scheme and procurement
of uniforms will start by March 31, 2012.
A high-level committee under the Chairmanship of the
Additional Chief Secretary (Forests) and consisting of
Principal Secretary Finance, Principal Secretary Industries,
Principal Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs,
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Secretary
Education, Directors of Higher and Elementary Education, has
been constituted for effective implementation of the Scheme.
The state already provides free text books to these
Political circles say that by this the ruling party
trying to strengthen its vote bank for the coming assembly
elections due later this year.
