Ayodhya was not the birth place of Prophet Mohammad: Swami Ramdev

New Delhi: Voicing his support for the construction of Ram temple, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev on Saturday said that every Hindu and Muslim knows that Ayodhya was not a birth place of Prophet Mohammad.

Taking to Twitter, Ramdev tweeted, “Shri Ram is our pride. Every Hindu and Muslim knows that Ayodhya was the birth place of Shri Ram and not of Prophet Mohammad.”

Ramdev's remark came in the wake of protest that was held against the two-day seminar titled "Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Temple: Emerging Scenario" organised at DU's Arts Faculty by Arundhati Vashishtha Anusandhan Peeth (AVAP), a research organisation founded by late VHP leader Ashok Singhal.

Some student groups had opposed DU's decision allowing such a seminar alleging it would "communalise" the campus and push "saffron agenda".

The students' wing of Congress party, National Students Union of India (NSUI), All India Students' Association (AISA) and the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) protested outside the venue of the seminar, saying the event aimed at polarising.
