Bihar CM, not Governor, to take Republic Day salute

Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will hoist the flag and take salute at the Republic Day parade in the state capital tomorrow instead of Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will hoist the flag and take salute at the Republic Day parade in the state capital tomorrow instead of Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

The arrangements to this regard have been made following directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs as Tripathi holds additional charge of West Bengal. He will be hoisting the tricolor and reviewing the parade in Kolkata.

Bihar Governor's Public Relation Officer S K Pathak that Tripathi gave his consent to the arrangement.

"The Governor will review the Republic Day parade in Kolkata and Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi will hoist the flag in Patna. He has given consent to this. A letter from MHA bearing directions in this regard has also come," Pathak said.

Meanwhile, Manjhi extended his best wishes to the people of the state on the eve of Republic Day and asked them to take a pledge to keep intact freedom, unity, integrity, peace and communal harmony in the society, and take the country towards development.
