New Delhi: BJP's coming to power marks a clear right-wing shift in economic, political and social policies and RSS's "aggressive and offensive" campaigns like 'Ghar Wapsi' pose a "communal fascistic" threat to India's secular and democratic ethos, CPI today claimed.

"BJP's coming to power is not just one party replacing the other but a clear right wing shift in economic, political and social policies," CPI National Secretary D Raja told PTI from Nagpur, where the three-day National Council meeting of the party is taking place.

Raja also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on issues like 'Ghar Wapsi' and over remarks by BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj that Hindus should have four children, etc.
"RSS and Sangh Parivar outfits have become very offensive and aggresive and are posing a communal fascistic threat to India's secular democratic republic," he said.

Aggressive campaigns by RSS and other similar outfits pose a "challenge" to the unity of the country and are an "affront" to the Constitution of India.

"The Modi government is not only remaining silent on these issues but creating conditions for big business and corporates to loot the natural recources of the country," charged Raja.

The Nagpur meet is for the drafting of the political resolution of CPI that will be presented during its 22nd Party Congress scheduled between March 25-29.
Party sources said that once it is presented at the Party Congress, it will be circulated to the state conferences for discussion.

Apart from this, CPI is also deliberating on its stand for facing what it alleged was a "communal offensive" by the Modi government and its attack on all democratic institutions, including educational institutions, party sources said.

The main aim is to try and bring all Left parties together for launching an offensive against the neo-liberal policies of the government, CPI sources said.
