Corporates will not get even a single inch of farm land: Amit Shah

Ghaziabad: Under attack from opposition over the new Land Bill, BJP chief Amit Shah on Tuesday said that not a single inch of land acquired from farmers will be given to corporates.

He claimed that the land acquisition Bill has been "misinterpreted" by the opposition.

Addressing the party's State Executive meeting here today, the BJP chief sought to assure that "not a single inch of farmers' land will be given to corporates."

Rahul Gandhi today accused the NDA government of "killing" the Land Acquisition Act brought by the UPA and said Congress will fiercely resist within and outside Parliament the attempt of "suit-boot ki sarkar" to "grab" farmers' land.

"This government wants to give land to crony capitalists and its industrialist friends because it's a 'suit-boot ki sarkar'," Rahul said in Parliament.

Exhorting the BJP workers, Shah said that they must ready themselves for achieving the 'Mission-2017'. Elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh in the first of 2017.

The BJP leader also attacked the UP government for following old norms while distributing relief to rain-hit farmers of the state.

"As per central government norms, a farmer is eligible for compensation if 33 per cent of his crops have been damaged. But the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh is harsh towards farmers and disbursing the compensation on old parameters of 50 per cent crop damage," Shah.

He said that the UP government must conduct a fresh survey to assess the crop damage based on new guideline of 33 per cent and utilise the dormant lying fund of 500 crores allocated by the Centre for disbursement among rain and hail storm hit farmers and "not for the luxuries of its ministers".
