CPI(M), CPI condoles death of President's wife

Leaders of Left parties on Tuesday condoled the death of First Lady Suvra Mukherjee.

New Delhi: Leaders of Left parties on Tuesday condoled the death of First Lady Suvra Mukherjee.

"All of us know she was unwell for sometime. It is a loss. We send our deepest condolences both to the Honourable President of India (Pranab Mukherjee) and his family... daughter Sharmistha and children, some of them are colleagues in Parliament," CPI(M) general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury said.

CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy too expressed deep grief over the First Lady's death.

"We convey our hearty condolences to Shri Pranab Mukherjee and his family," Reddy told PTI.

Suvra, who has been ailing for some time, passed away this morning.

She was admitted to Army Hospital on August 7 after she complained of breathlessness and discomfort. Since then she was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
