New Delhi: Members of central committee of CPI(M) will meet today here to finalise allocation of roles in the organisation and party's preparations for the upcoming Assembly polls in Bihar and West Bengal.

The party is also expected to decide on the schedule of its plenum during the two-day meeting, which takes place after its politburo meeting held last month.

"We will discuss political resolution adopted by the party Congress and also division of roles after Sitaram Yechury was elevated as General Secretary.

"Amongst key issues, we will discuss include our preparations for Bihar and West Bengal elections scheduled to be held this and next year respectively," a committee member said requesting anonymity.

He added that apart from the issues, 91 members of the committee will also take a call on schedule of the plenum. The CPI(M) plans to hold a plenum later this year to assess the status of its organisational strength which has seen a drastic decline in the past few years, especially in its one-time bastion of West Bengal.

The last such meeting was held in 1978 at Salkia in West Bengal.
