New Delhi: The Editors Guild of India tonight said the passing away of BG Verghese, a veteran journalist and a "sensitive chronicler" of post-Independence India's triumphs and travails, is a grievous loss to the world of journalism and to public and humanistic causes in general.
Paying tributes to Verghese, the Guild President N Ravi said Verghese served as a "conscience" of the media world.
Verghese had a gentle touch combined with a firm commitment to the public interest and humane values, Ravi said in a statement.
