New Delhi: Paying tribute to the socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan on his 113th birth anniversary on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said something that stirred up a storm on social networking site Twitter.
Addressing a gathering at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan where BJP veteran LK Advani, Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, Rajasthan governor Kalyan Singh and NCP leader DP Tripathi were present, Modi said that Parkash Singh Badal is a Nelson Mandela of India.
"Badal Sahab is sitting here. He is the Nelson Mandela of India. He was kept in prison for a long time because his political views were different from those in power,” said Modi.
However, the said remark later started trending on Twitter as #YoBadalSoMandela
