New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday saluted and paid respect to the Indian soldiers on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Expressing his views on Twitter, the Prime Minister wrote: “On Kargil Vijay Diwas I bow to every valiant soldier who fought for India till the very last breath. Their heroic sacrifices inspire us.”

While recalling the might displayed by the Indian military, PM Modi said, the country will never forget the fearlessness with which the courageous soldiers fought aganst the intruders in the 1999 Kargil war.

“India will never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers gave a befitting & unforgettable reply to the intruders,” he tweeted.

The PM also took the opportunity to praise the then Atal Behjari Vajpayee-led NDA government for displaying firm political leadership.

“We recall with pride, the firmness demonstrated by India’s political leadership in 1999, which ensured a decisive victory in Kargil,” the PM tweeted.

India launched 'Operation Vijay' to clear the Kargil sector of infiltration by Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants on the Indian side of the Line of Control.
