While briefing the press after meeting the Prime Minister in the national capital, Mufti termed the demonetisation move as a 'historic decision'.

“Demonetisation is not an ordinary decision, initially people will face difficulties, but in the long run it would turn out to be a historic decision,” the J&K CM asserted.

Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar along with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had openly supported the bold decision aimed at curbing black money, terrorism and corruption.

However, opposition parties like Congress, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, Left Front, Bahujan Samaj Party, DMK have heavily criticised PM Modi over demonetisation move.

Ever since the Winter Session started, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been witnessing ruckus over demonetisation.

On November 8, the central government demonetised the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
