Patna: RJD President Lalu Prasad on Friday mocked at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for wearing a costly suit during interaction with US President Barack Obama, saying since Modi swears by the poor, he should have put on a khadi suit.

"The pin-stripe suit was very costly. It appears that the suit has to be sent to France for dry cleaning," Prasad told reporters taking a swipe at PM's luxury outfit.

"People of the country is poor. Narendra Modi should have wore khadi suit... He should belief in simple living and high thinking and work keeping distance from destructive things," he said.

The RJD President said that Narendra Modi wore pin-stripe suit to impress US President and to show "hum kisi se kum nahi" (I am not inferior to anybody).

Prasad said he was not sure whether PM got it stitched or somebody had gifted it to him.

Prasad, however, said he was aware that the day was too cold also. "Pahan liya to pahan liya kaya kar sakte hain (if he wore what can be done?)," Prasad who misses no chance to criticise Narendra Modi, said.
