New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday bowed down to Shaheed Udham Singh on his 75th martyrdom day.
"The valour of Shaheed Udham Singh remains etched in the memory of every Indian. I bow to this brave son of India on his martyrdom day," Prime Minister Modi tweeted.
Shaheed Udham Singh had sacrificed his life to avenge the barbaric British massacre of Jallianwala Bagh at Amritsar.
He is best known for assassinating Michael O`Dwyer on March 13, 1940 in what has been described as an avenging of the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre.
A number of programmes are being organised to remember him and imbibe the spirit of self sacrifice, patriotism and nationalism among the youth.
