New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday evening congratulated the newly inducted ministers after his first Cabinet expansion which took place after five months of his taking charge. PM also expressed confidence that he will take the nation to newer heights of progress along with his colleagues.

PM took to micro-blogging website Twitter to encourage his newly inducted ministers. In a tweet he wrote - “Congratulations to all colleagues who have taken oath today. Looking forward to working with them to accelerate India's development journey.”



Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inducted four Cabinet Ministers, three Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 14 Ministers of State in his first Cabinet expansion. Modi took oath as PM in May this year.


Former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, former union minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, BJP general secretary JP Nadda and Chaudhary Birender Singh were sworn-in as Cabinet Ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhawan by President Pranab Mukherjee.


Bandaru Dattatreya, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Dr Mahesh Sharma were sworn-in as Ministers of State with Independent Charge.


Fourteen Ministers of State including Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Ram Kripal Yadav, Haribhai Parthbhai Chaudhary, Prof Sanwar Lal Jat and Mohanbhai Kalyanjibhai Kundariya were also administered oath of office.


Giriraj Singh, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Ram Shankar Katheria, YS Chaudhury, Jayant Sinha, Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Babul Supriyo, Sadhavi Niranjan Jyoti and Vijay Sampla were also sworn-in as Ministers of State.


After the oath taking ceremony, the newly inducted ministers posed for photographs with President Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Modi.


The formal and official announcement of portfolios is expected to be released by the Rashtrapati Bhawan later in the day.
