Ramdev popularises yoga, ayurveda across the globe: Shripad Naik

Union Minister for Yoga and Traditional Medicine Shripad Naik on Thursday credited Ramdev with introducing the world to India's glorious spiritual traditions and its rich past by popularising yoga and ayurveda across the globe.

Haridwar: Union Minister for Yoga and Traditional Medicine Shripad Naik on Thursday credited Ramdev with introducing the world to India's glorious spiritual traditions and its rich past by popularising yoga and ayurveda across the globe.

"Pujya swami Ramdev re-established India's cultural superiority over the rest of the world by popularising yoga and ayurveda and waking up everyone to their benefits.

"This is the reason why Patanjali yogpeeth has become synonymous with yoga and ayurveda," Naik said at a programme organised by Patanjali yogpeeth here.

"Our government will perform the task of collaborating with Patanjali yogpeeth to connect each and every village in the country and the whole world with yoga and ayurveda, " the Union Minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said Yog and Ayurveda considered alternative systems of therapy so far will now become the "national system of medicine".

"Gone are the days when wars were fought and won to reign over the world. India will reign supreme by teaching and practising yoga," he said.

Ramdev's aide Balkrishna said establishing ayurveda as the national system of medicine will benefit farmers and tribals the most because it is they who grow herbal and medicinal plants.
