The CISF, which is in charge of security at the airport, is going through CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprit.

Also, the housekeeping staff posted there are also being questioned.

As Level 2 of the Terminal is the arrival lounge, the investigators are suspecting that the threat note is the handiwork of someone who had arrived at the airport on a flight.

As per reports, the note was found yesterday evening after which CISF officials informed the Mumbai Police.

The threat note has come at a time when the city police – in view of Republic Day - is maintaining heightened level of vigil.

The security agencies are reasons to be worried as the four Indian youth who had joined Islamic State were from Thane near Mumbai, pointing to the possibility of a network of Islamic State sympathisers being active in the city.
