The incident happened when three terrorists trying to infiltrate were detected by surveillance devices and sentries of Indian Army, following which a operation was launched to eliminate the infiltrators.

The security officials have cordoned off the area and search operations are going on.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported on the Indian side.

Last month, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said, ever since the BJP-led government took office at the Centre, infiltration from across the Pakistan border into the Kashmir Valley has sharply gone down.

"In 2013, there were 297 incidents of infiltration, which decreased to 10 in 2015. In 2014, there were 165 infiltrations," Rajnath Singh told reporters during a media interaction.
