Jammu: Terming their recent `Ekta Sankalp` rally here as a "historic event", the Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP on Sunday said it was a show of unity and strength against policies aimed at "promoting" separatists and anti-national elements.
"The Ekta Sankalp rally on December 24 rally at Parade Ground was rally of the masses. It was historic as for the first time entire national BJP leadership had come on one platform and raised the voice against separatism, Kashmir-centric policies and discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions," BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas told reporters here.
"Participation of such a large number of people was a clear message to the Congress-led UPA at the Centre and the NC-Congress coalition in the state that the people have realised the need for displaying unity against the policies aimed at promoting the cause of separatists and anti-national elements and giving step motherly treatment to Jammu, Ladakh and majority of nationalist people in Kashmir," he said.
Manhas said the party had been continuously taking one programme after the other in the state in order to educate the masses on various issues.
