Jharkhand: 29 FIRs against parties for Model Code violation

A total of 29 FIRs have been filed against different parties in connection for violation of Election Model Code of Conduct ahead of the five-phase Assembly Elections in Jharkhand.

Ranchi: A total of 29 FIRs have been filed against different parties in connection for violation of Election Model Code of Conduct ahead of the five-phase Assembly Elections in Jharkhand.

BJP accounted for eight FIRs followed by JMM (6), Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (5), AJSU party (4), RJD (2), Congress (2), CPI-M (2), Samajwadi Party (1) and an unidentified case, an Election Commission release here on Saturday.

Between October 25 and November 6, a total of 533 matters relating to defacement of walls were detected across ten districts, it said.

The Excise department conducted 322 raids and arrested 145 persons in connection with illicit liquor cases during the period, the release said.
