Ranchi: Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta on Tuesday resigned from his post after losing the Assembly elections.
"Addressing the Deputy Speaker, I have resigned from the post. I have faxed it to the Assembly Secretariat and also sent it by hand," Bhokta told PTI.
Though there was nobody on the post of Deputy Speaker in the outgoing House, as per the rule, both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker address each other when they resign from the post.
"I have also returned all facilities provided to me," Bhokta added.
Bhokta came third from the Sarath Assembly constituency behind Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) and BJP.
