Medininagar: The Maoists, who
have given a poll-boycott call, on Tuesday burnt down the campaign
vehicle of an Independent candidate contesting Panki assembly
seat in Palamau district of Jharkhand.
Armed Maoists intercepted the jeep of Shashi Bhusan
Mahato at Telengi village in the constituency and asked his
supporters to get down from the vehicle, Deputy Superintendent
of Police M K Lal told newsmen here.
Setting fire to the empty four-wheeler, the Maoists
warned the supporters of Mahato, who was not present, against
continuing to campaign, Lal said quoting them.
Police have launched a combing operation in the Panki
assembly seat which goes to the polls on December 18.
