Khunti: Ahead of a two-day 'Jharkhand Bandh' which began on Sunday, People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) militants torched five heavy machines and one vehicle at Siladon in Khunti district, police said.

More than 12 PLFI militants came to the village and set on fire three JCV machines, two vaccum rollers of a construction company and a car of an individual last night, Superintendent of Police Anis Gupta said.

Meanwhile, the bandh evoked mixed response in the Khunti district where shops, markets, business establishments and road traffic were hit particularly in areas dominated by the ultra group.

PLFI has called the two-day bandh in protest against the killing of two persons when they were caught in an encounter between security personnel and Maoists at Marwai of Gumla district on September three last.
