PM Modi expresses grief over stampede deaths, speaks to Jharkhand CM

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief at the loss of lives in the temple stampede at Jharkhand's Deogarh district.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief at the loss of lives in the temple stampede at Jharkhand's Deogarh district.

Modi spoke to Chief Minister Raghubar Das about the incident which occurred in the temple town at around 4 AM leaving 11 people dead and over 30 injured.

"Pained at loss of lives due to the stampede in Jharkhand. My thoughts & prayers are with the families of the deceased in this hour of grief," the PM said on twitter.

"I pray that the injured recover quickly. I spoke to CM Raghubar Das ji on the incident," he said.

Das apprised Modi of the incident over phone, an official statement said in Ranchi.

Today is the second Monday of the auspicious Shravan month when thousands of devotees from across the country visit Deogarh to offer prayers.
