Mandya: Mandya district is on way to achieve cent per cent electrification soon, District Electricity Committee President and MP C S Puttaraju has said.
Presiding over the committee meeting here yesterday, he said, even the remotest village in the district should be electrified, utilising the Central schemes.
The Centre had introduced a comprehensive power scheme, which should be utilised by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc), he said. The scheme keeps in mind the power supply required for agriculture and industries sector and an effort has been made to balance it, he added.
MLA,K S Puttannaiah, who was also present, expressed happiness over balancing the power supply and understanding the importance of the agriculture sector.
Another MLA Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda pointed out the alleged failure of officials to repair defunct transformers at various places in Srirangapatna taluk, despite lodging several complaints.
CESC Superintending Engineer Shivaprasad said taluk-wise list under the scheme has already been prepared. While the Centre is funding 60 per cent of it, 30 per cent would be availed through loans and the remaining 10 per cent will be borne by CESC.
