Widow lights father-in-law`s funeral pyre in Raisen

Raisen (MP): In a rare incident, a widow lit
the funeral pyre of her father-in-law to fulfil his wish here,
sources said.

Devanti Chandel, last evening, lit the funeral pyre of
her father-in-law, Kishan Lal Chandel (75), a resident of
Arjun Nagar, who passed passed away after prolonged illness,
they said.

Earlier, Kishal Lal, a retired employee of Madhya Pradesh
State Electricity Board (MPSEB) had wished that his
daughter-in-law light his pyre after his death as his lone son
and Devanti`s husband, Rajendra Chandel had died five years
ago, the sources said.

There was no other person in Kishan Lal`s family except
his wife Ram Bai and daughter-in-law Devanti. After his son`s
demise, he treated Devanti as his son, they added.
