New Delhi: The Janata Dal United (JDU) on Friday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intentionally damaged the reputation of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and added that his party supports the students' protest against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as institution’s head.

“JD (U) supports FTII students protest. If the Bharatiya Janata Party wanted one of its supporters as the FTII director, they could have made someone else the director," JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.

"Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Anupam Kher, Kiron Kher, there were tons of names. They have intentionally damaged this institution`s reputation," he added.

Meanwhile, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is likely to meet the students of the FTII today, who have been on strike for over 50 days over their demand for cancelling actor Chauhan`s appointment as FTII chairman.

According to reports, some students had approached Rahul Gandhi to intervene in the matter.
