Case against 14 persons for forcefully marrying off girl

A case has been registered against 14 persons for forcefully marrying off a girl without her consent, police said on Thursday.

14 persons for forcefully marrying off a girl without her
consent, police said on Thursday.

The 23-year old victim used to the visit the house of one
Rahul Bandu Kamble, 26, to learn sewing work from his mother.
Rahul had professed his love for her but the girl rejected his
proposal, they said adding he kept harassing her and demanded
that she marry him.

On April 12, when the girl visited his home, Rahul`s
mother offered her some tea, after drinking which she fell
unconscious, police said.

The victim was then taken to a temple by Rahul and 13 of
his relatives where she was forced to marry him, they said.

The girl lodged a complaint against Rahul and his
relatives on Tuesday following which a case has been
registered against them, they said adding that further
investigations are on.
