Nashik: Maharashtra water resources minister Girish Mahajan who is also Nashik's guardian minister inaugurated a "command and control centre" at the Nashik police commissionerate premises here on Sunday.

The centre comprises a public address system network of 1,700 loud speakers installed at various places on the banks of the Godavari river, as well as a network of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.


Police commissioner S Jagannathan said that during the Kumbh Mela, the police would keep a close watch on the entire city from the CCTV control room.


"All CCTV cameras are of good quality which will give us clear footage. Sixty police officers and other employees will man the control room round the clock," he said.
