Maha: Woman raped repeatedly on pretext of job

A 38-year-old man has been booked for allegedly raping a married woman repeatedly after promising to provide her a job, police said on Saturday.

Thane (Maha): A 38-year-old man has been booked for allegedly raping a married woman repeatedly after promising to provide her a job, police said on Saturday.

As per the complaint, the accused, identified as Anukool Jog, promised the 30-year-old woman from Mumbai a job. He called her to his house and different lodges in the city and raped her repeatedly from February to July this year, Inspector K G Chavan of Rabodi police station said.

He then threatened and blackmailed her that he will reveal the incident to the woman's husband and even extracted Rs 1,54,000 from her, he said.

A case has been registered under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of IPC, he said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
