Pune: Three persons were on Tuesday arrested for thrashing a woman in Pune a week ago.
The incident came into light after the Pune police registered an FIR into the case a week after the incident took place. The incident is believed to have taken place by moral policing gang.
Last week in Pune, a 22-year-old woman was dragged out of her car, attacked and threatened for wearing a short dress and going out with men.
The woman was apparently told by the gang - “How can you wear such a short dress and roam with two males at such a time (wee hours in morning)? In Pune, this is not allowed.”
"Girls in our family don't wear such short dresses and neither step out of their homes at 5 in the morning," one of the attackers told her.
As per a report in Mid Day, the incident took place on May 1 when the woman was returning from the sangeet rehearsal for her friend’s wedding.
The women told the Daily - “At 5.30 am, while we were passing by the Lullanagar main signal, one car started driving parallel to our car. The window glasses were tinted, but a man rolled down the glass and peeped into our car.”
The man allegedly hurled abuses at her and her friends and then the gang followed her all the way home.
They intercepted her car there and apparently when one of her male friends tried to intervene, he was hit by the accused.
The report further says that other men then dragged her out of the car and hit her. The victim said that she feared being raped if her friends had not intervened.
Of the three accused, two were identified as Amit Mukhedkar and Shubham Gupta.
