Separate law required to deal with terrorists: R R Patil

Maharashtra Home minister R R Patil today said there was need for separate law to deal with terrorists in the country.

Ahmedabad: Maharashtra Home minister R R
Patil today said there was need for separate law to deal with
terrorists in the country.

"There is need for separate law to deal with terrorists
which would be different from those dealing with other
crimes," said Patil, who was at the Sahitya Parishad here for
the launch of a book based on the 26/11 terror attacks in
Mumbai.

Citing example of the 26/11 attack in which 10 Pakistani
terrorists had come to Mumbai through sea route dodging all
the security and intelligence arrangements, the NCP leader
said Gujarat and Maharashtra need to be extra vigilant in
terms of coastal security.

Patil said he could not foretell when Ajmal Kasab, lone
terrorist convicted for the 26/11 attack, would be hanged as
there was a long list of people on the death row, including
Afzal Guru, convicted for attack on Parliament in 2001.

The Maharashtra Home Minister launched the Gujarati
version of book titled `26/11 Operation Mumbai`.

The book, originally written by Atul Kulkarni in Marathi,
has been translated into Gujarati by Kishore Gaud.
