Adarsh scam: ‘Supari’ given to defame me, claims Ashok Chavan

The former Maharashtra CM has flayed his opponents in the Congress for "masterminding" his ouster.

Nanded: Without taking names, former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan Friday flayed his opponents in the Congress for "masterminding" his ouster from the top post.

"Some people had given ‘supari’ to defame me. I am innocent in the Adarsh scam and the inquiry would prove it. I thank Sonia Gandhi for giving me chance to be chief minister twice," he said addressing a rally in Nanded.

After stepping down from the top post, this was the first rally addressed by Ashok Chavan in Nanded this evening.

Coming down heavily on media, Chavan said at present a section of the fourth estate is busy carrying media trials. "They are trying to pronounce someone guilty without evidence. This should be stopped," he said.
Without taking any names, he said, "Chulbul Pandey was happy after I stepped down but the joy was short lived. One Chavan was replaced with another."
