CBSE exams kick off; students happy with question pattern

Education today began on a happy note with students saying the
question papers were of an average standard.

Nearly 6.99 lakh students are appearing in the Class
XII exams, which started with the physics paper.

For Class X students, music was the first exam. A
total of nine lakh candidates are appearing in the Class X
exams.

The CBSE said that the exams went off peacefully
across the country and abroad.

"There was no untoward incident during the conduct of
today`s exam," its spokesperson Rama Sharma said.

The students appeared satisfied with their
performance.

"The paper was a standard one. It was neither very
easy nor very tough. But it was a little lengthy, though I
completed it on time," said Harsh Prakash, a student of
Eklavya Education Complex in Patna.

Voicing a similar opinion, Arpit Goeth of Army Public
School in the capital said though the questions were of
average standard, some of them were more analytical and
conceptual.

"It was a rather easy paper with a few conceptual
questions in between and a bit lengthy," Arpit said.

Snehashish Mitra, a student of Mount St. Mary`s School
here, said a few questions were "indirect" and "tricky",
especially those carrying two and three marks each.

However, a physics teachers described the question
paper as balanced.

"As per my assessment, the questions were balanced in
nature though the presentation was a little twisted in a few
sections this year because of a difference in format. But,
there was enough material for an average student to pass,"
said D K Rastogi, senior physics teacher with Laxman Public
School.

The exams will continue till the first week of April.
According to CBSE, nearly 9.02 lakh students, including
5,33,715 boys, have registered for Class-X exams this year.

In Delhi, 2.47 lakh students are taking the Class X
exams and 1.99 lakh the Class XII exams.

There are 13,311 students and 8,596 candidates
respectively for Class-X and Class-XII exams in foreign
countries.

The exams are being conducted at over 5,300 centres
across the country and abroad.

ISC, ICSE exams also begin

The ICSE and ISC examinations for classes X and XII will also start from Wednesday. The over a month-long exams being conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination will be taken by 1,69,859 students across 29 states and four foreign locations.
