Chikungunya claims one life in Kota

Chikunguniya, which has spread in the city, has claimed one life while four others have tested positive even as the Centre on Wednesday said there were no deaths in the country due to the viral disease.

the city, has claimed one life while four others have tested
positive even as the Centre on Wednesday said there were no deaths in
the country due to the viral disease.

Kunna Bhai, aged around 60 and hailing from Aklera of
Jhalawar district, had tested positive and died yesterday,
said Dr Rampal, head of medicine department at MBS Hospital
here. The test was conducted at a private laboratory, he said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss
told reporters earlier today, "There are no deaths in the
country due to chikungunya. People don`t die of the viral.
Those who are dying are succumbing to secondary
complications."

Hospital director Dr Dinesh Baheti said four of the
five patients tested for chickunguniya had positive reports.

While a thirteen-year-old patient Himansu is admitted
to MBS Hospital, three others were undergoing treatment at a
private hospital, a report said.
