Enforcement Directorate (ED) has released the passport of Jagat Singh, son of former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, allegedly involved in the food-for-oil scam.

New Delhi, Dec 22: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has released the passport of Jagat Singh, son of former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, allegedly involved in the food-for-oil scam.

The Directorate in its letter to Singh and Asad Khan, son of a Congress leader, said "the retention period has expired and your passports are no more required by the Directorate."

While Asad Khan had approached the ED and taken over his passport, Singh was yet to approach the office for his passport.

Jagat Singh has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking release of his passport as the probe is over.

Justice Anil Kumar had issued a notice to ED on November 27 on Singh's petition and posted the matter for hearing on January 11.

The Delhi High Court on December 18 had disposed off the petitions of father-son duo seeking quashing of the notification issued by the ED, which had struck down their defence arguments as they failed to file their replies to the show cause within the stipulated time till November 27 this year.

The court asked the ED to fix a new date for their appearance.
