An Indian national was injured when police opened fire to retaliate attack by jewellery traders who were protesting an operation by local police to stop illegal trading of precious stones.

stop illegal trading of precious stones.

Twenty-year-old Shiva Kumar Rauniya received a bullet
injury on his mouth during a scuffle with policemen, who were
conducting raid on a jewellery shop in Kathmandu, police said.
The police also arrested five other local traders for
their involvement in trading illegally jade vase shaped stone
brought from China.

Police, however, said that the bullet was accidentally
shot when the traders tried to overpower the policemen who
were trying to arrest them.

The jade stone is considered a rare stone believed to
have capacity to detoxifying poison.
