Maj Gen Rajavelu takes command at OTA, Chennai

Sena Medal winner Maj Gen UM Rajavelu has assumed command at the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA) here. Maj Gen Rajavelu replaced Lt Gen Gautam Banerjee, who retired on June 30.

Chennai: Sena Medal winner Maj Gen UM Rajavelu has assumed command at the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA) here. Maj Gen Rajavelu replaced Lt Gen Gautam Banerjee, who retired on June 30.

Maj Gen Rajavelu was commissioned into Rajputana Rifles in1976 and has participated in several operations in the past, including OP Rhino, Op Rakshak, Op Vijay and Op Parakram, a press release said.
He has also served as Chief Instructor (Army) at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, prior to taking charge as Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor at the OTA.
